Where the Garden Used to Grow

Jolene Family Winery sits on a special piece of land with deep roots. Before the winery existed, this spot was home to the Mikelaites family. Brian, one of the winery’s owners, fondly recalls helping his dad in the garden, pulling weeds and learning lessons about patience and hard work.

Today, the winery’s production building sits right on top of that old garden, creating a meaningful connection between past and present. This is where the magic of winemaking happens, where grapes transform into the handcrafted wines visitors enjoy. Every time barrels are filled and bottles are corked, history lies beneath everyone’s feet. The same soil that once grew vegetables now supports the roots of vines and the start of every great vintage.

When establishing the winery, the family created a company to hold the property separately from the business, protecting the land and planning for the future, including the possibility of leasing buildings like their Brianwood Office Park. After some thought, the perfect name emerged: Garden Spot Properties LLC. It is both practical and meaningful. The company officially owns the land that the winery sits on, tying the business back to the family’s original garden spot.

The name serves as a charming reminder of the land’s history and the family memories planted there long before the first vines were grown. Next time you enjoy a glass of wine at Jolene Family Winery, take a moment to appreciate not just the wine in your hand, but the land beneath your feet—a garden spot that has grown into something truly special.
